In Scott Osgood’s experience with town planning, he has worked in many towns, but he said none have been quite as nice as his time in Antrim as the new town planner.

“It’s really nice, there’s a lot going on,” he said.

Having been on the job for about three weeks, Osgood is starting to get a sense for the community around him.

“Everybody’s willing to work with everybody else,” he said. “It’s been very generous, with the folks that are here.”

Osgood is a licensed civil engineer who has been a town planner in Enfield and Claremont, in addition to serving on the Planning Board for six years in Henniker, where he is now on the Select Board. This experience, he said, has helped him understand a lot of the processes that go into town planning.

Being in the Antrim area is new for him, he said, and he finds the region switch exciting.

“It’s a new, fresh reality,” he said.

Osgood said he looks forward to immersing himself in the town’s projects, and he hopes to be able to provide some stability to the town’s planning and zoning.

“I think it will be very rewarding to just help the whole system be regulated,” he said. “People come and go, Planning Board members, things don’t quite stay together, and I think I’ve got a good opportunity to take care of that.”

And he said although all towns have slightly different ordinances, he feels like he has a good breadth of experience to support him and he feels confident with Antrim’s.

Osgood said his favorite part of the job is helping people figure out what to do with their land, and guide them through the process of working with the town.

“When you’re here, you get to just meet more and more people and get more and more knowledge about the community,” he said. “It’s just great meeting new people.”
